Overview of Access to Spanish Universities for International Students

Our Spanish University Access Program for International Students is designed for foreign students aged 18 to 25 from non-Spanish-speaking countries. It combines intensive Spanish language training, preparation for PCE and SIELE exams, and academic guidance. As a Cervantes Institute-accredited center, we guarantee the quality of our educational approach to ensure your academic success. Our on-site program takes place in Madrid, one of Spain’s most vibrant cities. This University Pathway program runs for 40 weeks, divided into two phases of 20 weeks each.

Phase 1: Intensive Spanish Language Development (August – December)

The pathway university program starts with 20-weeks of immersion course in Spanish to ensure mastery of B2-level Spanish—the minimum requirement for admission to Spanish universities. With 20 hours of weekly instruction, participants build linguistic confidence through:

Grammar and vocabulary tailored to academic contexts (e.g., scientific terminology, essay writing).
Listening and reading comprehension exercises using authentic university-level materials.
Speaking and writing practice via debates, presentations, and research projects mirroring real academic tasks.

Our total immersion methodology combines dynamic classroom activities with cultural experiences in Madrid, fostering rapid progress through small-group learning (max. 9 students).

Phase 2: PCE & SIELE Exam Preparation (January – May)

PCE (Specific Competency Tests):

During this phase (20 weeks), students prepare to succeed in the entrance exams required for admission to Spanish universities.

Weekly Class Schedule: 16.5 hours per week, consisting of 20 classes that are 50 minutes long.
Exam Preparation Tools: We provide subject-specific exam simulations and materials to help students prepare effectively.
Expert Collaboration: The PCE classes are delivered in collaboration with a renowned center specializing in university preparation, offering tailored instruction that meets the unique needs of each student.

SIELE (Spanish Language Certification):
As an official SIELE examination center, we provide:

4 weekly hours of test-taking techniques and practice.
Take the exam conveniently at our Spanish language school, located in the heart of Madrid.
Guaranteed certification recognized by most of the Spanish universities.

OPTIONAL. C1 Extension (June – August)

After completing the exams, students can enroll in intensive summer courses to achieve the C1 level and continue refining their Spanish before the start of the university course.

Duration: 8 weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1: Can I skip the PCE if I have strong A-Levels?

Answer: In most cases, no. Even with strong A-Levels, you will still need to take the PCE (Pruebas de Competencias Específicas) to access a Spanish university. Some universities may recognize certain A-Level subjects, but usually the PCE is required to calculate your official admission score (through UNEDasiss).

We recommend checking the specific requirements of the university you are applying to, as criteria can vary.

Question 2: Are SAT/ACT scores considered?

Answer: Not directly. Spanish universities do not consider SAT or ACT scores in the admission process. Evaluation is based exclusively on UNED asiss-processed credentials, including high school transcripts and, when required, PCE or SIELE results.
